As Issy Brooke (the penname of Autumn Barlow) I currently write Victorian and Edwardian cosy mysteries. I have three completed series set in the Victorian period. “Lady C Investigates” is a five-book series set in the 1840s, following the slightly silly exploits of the incorrigible Cordelia, Lady Cornbrook and her retinue. The series is on Amazon here and also available on Kobo, Apple, and Nook.

For those wanting a more serious approach to history, “The Investigations of Marianne Starr” is a trilogy of stories set in the later Victorian period, when women were getting more freedom to work and study, and follows a scientifically-minded young woman who is called on to expose and debunk paranormal activity. Find them online here.

Finally, my most recently completed series is a mammoth eight books long. “The Discreet Investigations of Lord and Lady Calaway” have proved to be very popular, with an aristocratic detective duo meddling in people’s affairs across the country. Find them on Amazon here and, from July 2021, on all other major retailers.

Coming soon under this name will be some Edwardian mysteries; if you would like to know about them before they are even published, then please consider signing up to my monthly newsletter here. You will receive advance notice of new releases, special offers and promotions.

I write under two names. This part of my website is devoted to my Victorian and Edwardian mysteries. If you are looking for my 1920s traditional golden age mysteries, please click here.

I originally trained as an illustrator. I mostly draw for pleasure these days but I undertake commissions from time to time, and you can find out about that here.

Since December 2020 I have been travelling around the UK in a self-converted van. I spend the mornings writing, and the afternoons exploring. If you are interested in discovering the hidden villages and histories of Britain, I invite you to join me on my Facebook page here. I post daily updates and photos and I encourage comments, feedback and interaction. You are all most welcome!
